2015 - Lights installation

A traveling light moves and circulates along a series of hanging white frames. These frames briskly shift from darkness to light, unlike their shadows that move slowly on the floor. The movement continuously recurs to play a silent dramatization of the space. The viewers are invited to explore it by also moving around and between the frames. The repetitive nature of the installation brings us into a small space of suspended time.

A graduate from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, in Norway, HC Gilje navigates between installation, experimental video, live performance and scenography. A key figure of the audiovisual live scene around the 2000s, Gilje has also been very active in the fields of theater and dance. Since 2006, Gilje works on Conversations with Spaces, a long-term project in which elements of his earlier practice can be found: exploration of spaces in his videos, creation of spaces in his stage work and improvisation in his live performances.
